Family of man who dies after being Tased sues Charlotte police www.privateofficer.com

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  Dec 20 2012
The family of a man who died after being shocked by a police Taser has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

LaReko Williams' parents are suing the city of Charlotte, the officer who stunned him,
Police Chief Rodney Monroe and
Taser International.

Police said that Williams was beating a woman at the light rail station on Woodlawn Road when they approached him.
They said he wouldn't stop and officers Michael Forbes shocked him.

The family claimed that Williams was unarmed and wasn't a threat.

Williams' death prompted CMPD to stop using Tasers for several months until they found a safer version.
